Manuscript of a diary kept for the first six months of 1833 by Thomas Strickland of Sizergh Castle near Kendal. The entries from January through March cover daily life at Sizergh, including hunts, estate business, and visits, The second half of the diary details Strickland's trips to London and Paris, describing numerous dinners, visits with the French aristocracy, performances at the Opera, including one of Meyerbeer's Robert le Diable, his reunion with his family, and a relationship with a woman from the Passage de Choiseul.
